#YourStoryIsMine: A Harvard KIND Schools Campaign

It all started when...

Our campaign proposal, "#YourStoryIsMine" was 1 of 10 proposals nationwide selected by Harvard Graduate School of Education for funding and inclusion in the KIND School Challenge.  The goal of the challenge is for youth to develop and implement a specific plan for making their school a kinder, more compassionate place.

EVAC members Billy Luper and Christopher Burgess developed the campaign proposal, "#YourStoryIsMine" based upon their experiences with story sharing in Ms. Donofrio's class. Every two weeks, we will profile a difficult issue that many Lee students struggle with  (ex: losing a sibling, having an incarcerated parent). On our bulletin board and social media pages, we will interview and feature three students as well as a teacher or celebrity who relates to this topic. Other youth who connect can "heart" the story on social media or place a heart sticker next to the student on the bulletin board. We hope that many will choose to share their OWN stories on the topic via social media with the hashtag "#YourStoryIsMine."

The campaign is co-sponsored by the KIND Foundation and Making Caring Common (MCC), a project of the Harvard Graduate School of Education. MCC's goal is to build a society where all youth are caring, responsible to their communities and committed to justice.  For more info, visit:   http://mcc.gse.harvard.edu/
